Topic: wireless controller problems... | |
---|---|
Ok, so I'm planning to have a Fable 2 co-op session with a friend over the weekend. Then it occurs to me that I haven't used my wireless controller in about 2 years, I'd better test it.
What happens when I press the guide button to turn on the controller is...essentially nothing! The controller blinks repeatedly, but doesn't work. I've tried pressing the synchronization button on the 360, I've tried unplugging my wired controller, I've tried everything imaginable. Nothing helps! |

So nobody has any idea then what could be wrong??

What do you mean by wireless controller, do you mean a wireless access point (AP)? Have you login to the interface and checked the settings there? Is someother wirelees device interfearing with it such as phone or another AP? Did you turn off SSID broadcast?
Let me know you model type and I will give you a simple setup settings to check |

I was referring to my xbox 360 controller. Now that you mention it, my cellphone might have been interfering with it, although that was weeks ago now, I don't remember if my cell was in my room that day.
I tried a friend's wireless, which didn't work either, although the green light wasn't flashing like on my controller. |

Stupid thought here... Did you try different batteries? Mine were doing that, and new batteries solved the problem.
Just a thought... |

Lol, yeah, that's actually one of the first things I tried.

THINGS TO TRY
1. Remove all the metallic objects from the front of the console. Or, move the console away from any metallic surfaces, such as entertainment cabinets. 2. Move the console, or move the other wireless devices away from the console. 3. If other wireless devices don't work correctly, move the wireless devices or move the console to determine whether interference is causing the issue. 4. If you continually receive the "Please reconnect controller" error message while you're playing games, or if the four green lights on the controller flash continuously even after you try to “bind” the controller with the Xbox 360 console, there may be a problem with the controller. Contact Xbox Customer Support. Back to the top MORE INFORMATION Metallic objects may shield the wireless signal. This prevents the signal from reaching either device. Some faceplates may contain metal and may interfere with the wireless signal between the controller and the console. Note All licensed faceplates have been tested and will not interfere with licensed wireless devices. The Xbox 360 Wireless Controller runs in the 2.4-GHz range of radio frequency and is designed to share the frequency with other devices. However, sometimes the wireless controller may not function correctly or may interfere with other wireless devices. Make sure the batteries are new also. Hope this helps. Dawn |

I think I might be able to help here. Did you push the sync button on top of the actual remote by the play and charge port or did you just hit the sync button on the console?
This is not a problem with any sort of communication because if it were the lights would not even flash on the control. And yes these controls are programmed to run off of a 2.4 Ghz but there are 11 channels in each frequency. That was installed so they could help run multiple wireless devices at once without interference with each other (media remote, wireless usb dongle, multiple remotes.) Also, keep in mind that most of Microsoft's hardware is proprietary meaning that if you are using a Nyko battery pack on the actual Microsoft control it does not fit correctly and will briefly work but turn off after about 10 seconds. Same if you were to use a play and charge kit on a nyko control, PROPRIETARY money hungry pigs. Get back at me if none of this works. |
