Topic: I loved you, you made me, hate me. You gave me, hate, see? | |

Why is that most conversations that lean to conform an individual into a "better" overall view by society start with "I'm only trying to help/I'm doing this because I love you"? This may just be me but usually this is directed towards my outward punk style of clothing and hair, and the ideal that I may hold is completly unaccounted for...

Certain hairstyles/clothing would not go well at the office. I hate conformity. But apparantly the people who sign your pay cheques do.....

Probably because some where along the line they have tried to do the counter culture thing and knows it gets to be a real drag after a while. Ot lost someone they really love because they didn't fit the traditional mold and they just couldn't hang after enough abuse.

Ot lost someone they really love because they didn't fit the traditional mold and they just couldn't hang after enough abuse. Good insight...I don't follow the road of counter culture (at least I don't think I do). I just stand out moreso then those around me, I wear my hair up in spikes and wear plaid pants. What I'm wondering is why do people tell someone like myself that we shouldn't dress how we're comfortable or do our hair up in a style that is different from the typical daily found hairstyles? As well as where this style (outside of work) in some way means that I will probably not be successful? |

Mine did not like my fluorescent green hair...Or the dark red-brown I eventually died it to cover it up. But lets not hate on the parental units! |

Actually for the most part it is my dad, my mum doesn't mind it...my dad is a military brat...probably explains it, huh? |
