Why do people use etc. when writing about themselves in profiles? How does that tell strangers anything about them? I've always found that to be kind of strange. People are lazy and have really horrible writing skills. The average profile, of a local girl on dating sites I've been on, is seven words long, and the seven words are "I don't know what to write here." "I don't know what to write here, etc." would actually be an improvement. Not MUCH of an improvement but better than nothing. Sort of. |

It happens in emails to. "Hi. I like blah, blah, blah etc." Really? That's supposed to make me want to reply?
