i know its odd to think about this or say this but i believe that felons still have rights they are still Americans so after they serve there time why dose our govt. continue to turn there lives into hell? not allowed to vote or own a gun?
i was just thinkin about it that would be enough to turn a red blooded American commie or suicidal, or they would have to turn to crime to get there rights back on there own. i totally respect any one labeled criminal or felon that has served there time if they have remorse for what they had done or proclaim their innocents , i mean unless the felony involved a firearm and some one being shot with that firearm like a innocent person then i believe all there rights should be intact. |

Not too concerned as to what "geroge" washington wanted me to do seeing as how he was president 200 years ago and a few things have changed since then. JMO. well sometimes things happen by accident or in a moment of tiem that dont represent some ones heart but then they get there rights striped away for ever that's more of a crime than any felony,we are still humans. that oh dont do anything wrong and you dont have to worry thing is abunch bs in this time in age everything is a crime, its so ****ing oppressive. |

I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but you can petition to get those rights back. Personally, I'm against reinstating a person's right to bear arms when they are convicted of a felony. That just scares the he!l out of me. But that's just me.
As far as the right to vote, I agree with you. I don't believe the right to vote should be taken away from anyone! But, if your right is taken away because of being convicted of a felony, I believe that you should, at the very least, be given that right back freely when your time is served, without having to beg for it. Seriously, what harm can be done by letting a felon vote? They have an opinion, and they have the right to have that opinion heard! |

I think the first thing we need to do is find out exactly what rights are kept removed once you are free from incarceration, and have done all parole time, etc.
I agree you should have voting rights reinstated AFTER you are done with all your incarceration, etc. Firearms, I would say case by case issue. Are there any other rights that are not given to a freed felon? |

In MA a felon can vote unless he's in jail. A felon can own a gun after 5 years if he gets his case reviewed by a state board.
