In my area voting takes place in some schools. There are other places too.

This year the schools that have voting are closing on Election Day. They are saying it's because of the large amount of people voting this year. It's also for the safety of the children.

I don't remember the schools closing for an election before.

Is it happening in your area too? Does it usually happen?

Schools have closed here on election day for the last couple of years. It has to do with the new security measures at schools.

They only close the schools here if it's a presidential election.

Nope, Fire Stations, Libraries, churches, all are open for regular business.

Don't believe it Winx, its a trick to make you stay home with the kids and not vote.

I remember being in a hippy bar when they were counting the returns in 1980.

Even the hippies cheered when Reagan beat Carter

Also, when voting here, you can't wear an Obama shirt or McCain shirt. No pins either. They don't want people influencing others on how to vote.

Well, all our schools are polling places, and stay open unless it's a presidential election--All the city offices are closed as well, if it's a presidential election. That's the way it's been for as long as I remember.
