First Its interesting that the more i surf this forum, the more i find less questions and opinion sparking topics. just alot of statements. flat statements. and stories.

*puts on her hypocrisy hat*

SO last night I passed out candy while my older sister took her three kids trick or treating. one is 12 one is 3 and one is less than 5 months old.

They had a blast of course and I passed out candy to a bunch of happy kids and some teens who were out having a great time.

When they came home, I told my sister about all the kids but when i mentioned the teens, she got all bent out of shape saying "GOD! they are too old for that crap! they take up the candy that can be going to the younger kids!"

and I flat out looked at her and said

"Wait.. you took your 5 month old baby dressed as superman out to collect candy? He did have his own bag right? I mean he can't eat any of it .. so essentially you used your baby to collect candy for yourself... and you think its wrong for teens to do it?"

anyway it turned into a crazy debate ...

What do you think? is there an age limit? and if so.. in which direction?

and if its okay for parents to take their babies out.. why not are teens okay?

I would have went trick or treating, but I was stuck handing out candy...I don't think there is an age limit, personally I think people just decide on their own they are too old. I'm never too old, I'm a Toy's 'R Us® kid!

I think it's fine for teens to trick or treat as long as they are still willing to dress up!! Heck, if I could still get away with it, I'd do it, tooooooo!!! I'd dress up!!!! I love going with my kiddo from house to house just to see all the fun. I'm 48, so, yeah, a teen would like it still, toooo!!!

As for you, you were RIGHT ON TARGET with your sister and the baby!!!!! laugh laugh laugh

Yeah I think it's personal preference... My 15 yr old and his buddies were out last night (dressed up) some of them trick or treated, my son would'nt he thinks it's stupid ... ..mostly they hid in bushes and on porches scaring people!laugh

When I was a teenager, none of my friends or I would even THINK about egging cars! It stinks up the interior and plays hell on the paint. We always had more respect for cars than that.

We egged houses.

I'm 45 years old and every year I dress up and fix the yard up and wander around outside talking to the kids and just having a good time with the trick or treaters. I don't collect candy but I give alot out and totally get into the whole Halloween thing.

I had lots of teens at my house...
The girls seem to get into it more than the guys, so I thought it was pretty cool that all of them, girls and guys, were dressed up.
They all got candy.

I got cleaned out... 5 bags of candy, I'm in a small neighborhood... oh, and a sheet of Wendy's Frosties too.

The real question might be "if I DIDN'T think the teens should get candy - what would be the consequence of not giving them any?"

My answer: I pay hundreds of dollars a month for car insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance, etc... an extra $3 for enough extra candy to give out to teenagers also is worth it. winking

NewMingle is right. That's how I learned what the F-word was back when I was 10 years old. My dad told some teens that they were to old to still be trick or treating and they wrote it on the front of the house later that night.

I have no problem when the teens dress up. It's the teens who don't dress up and come up to the door with huge bags for candy that kinda piss me off. I grit my teeth, smile, and give them candy. Parents that take babies out and have NO other children with me also annoy me. Wait till the kid is a bit older so the child can actually participate and understand what is going on. Geeze, really....
