I have more than a few extra pounds...but I'll say thank you as well! And didn't you say you lost a lot of weight at one time yourself? Congrats to you!!! I did. Had Gastric by pass surgery four years ago. But, what is funny is that I still see myself as being a big dude....not in the crotch area....but big dude...all around.  buddddy i completly agree....except the surgery part after i lost over 80lbs its became incredibly hard to take the compliments ....sometimes lol |

Had Gastric by pass surgery four years ago. But, what is funny is that I still see myself as being a big dude....not in the crotch area....but big dude...all around. In my experience, I have found that when I person has the surgery, they go one of two ways. They either believe they are hot s*it, and feel that people should just gawk at them. Or, like me and you, they lose the weight and keep their humility. I hear women compliment me on my looks, but it is just so hard to accept. I can't answer why it is, it just is that way. I feel great, and am glad I did the surgery. But still, when a woman compliments me, I just don't know what to say at times. Ahhhh....the curse of being humble. |

Exactly Goof. You hit it right on the head. My best friend had the surgery 5 years ago and you wouldn't believe the head she has about herself now. I mean come on. I had the surgery in Dayton, Ohio about and hour and a half from home and couldn't attend the after care meetings on how to deal with the changes in your daily life. If anyone who is contemplating this surgery be sure to attend those classes.

I just made a reference to Scarface and it was over looked
 hey to those that lost the weight w/bypass... after the surgery, obviously and recovery... how much extra skin are you left with? a g/f had the bypass done, lost over 250lbs., but still is carrying the extra weight of the stretched skin, what about you guys? has anyone gone to the extent as to have the excess skin removed? pros/cons? |

Exactly Goof. You hit it right on the head. My best friend had the surgery 5 years ago and you wouldn't believe the head she has about herself now. I mean come on. I had the surgery in Dayton, Ohio about and hour and a half from home and couldn't attend the after care meetings on how to deal with the changes in your daily life. If anyone who is contemplating this surgery be sure to attend those classes. No joke. I was at one of these meetings, and I was talking to this lady. Now, she was about two years removed from the surgery, and she looked fantastic. She introduced herself to me, and then the her next words were, "Honey. You are going to be a hottie, and then you can get back at all the skinny people who made fun of your weight." I was shocked. I asked her, "Why would I do that?". She actually was appalled I asked her that. I just shook my head. I mean, it wasn't about getting back at people. I did the surgery for me. And, someone will like and love me for who I am...not what I look like. |

The skin issue is becoming an issue for me. Looking into a tummy tuck.
Goof-I was married when I had it done and he never questioned me for the reason why I had it done. He loved me for 20 years without ever saying anything about my weight. He passed away July 26, 2008. |

I was just curious because I also lost 125 pounds, mine was from the cancer diet though. I have guys looking at me now that would not give me the time of day back then. I would not date someone like that!! I am still the same person...just a different shell.

I have noticed that about the divorce/seperation rate. You have to be really secure in your relationship to have to this surgery. The other person needs to go through all of the classes with you.
