Forever Together

Moonlight casts her glow
And settles in her gaze
upon a burned out house
Amid the fog and haze.

A fragrant scent of perfume
Seeps into the air
And then appears a spectre
That waits for something there.

A candle's light grows slowly
And spies a lady there
Without a shadow cast
Nor does she seem aware.

A cold, stiff breeze is felt
As a wisp of smoke breaks in
The lady runs to greet
A man who's tall and thin.

A soft and steady sound
Is brought from echoes past
Soft music's plainly heard
From history now set fast.

She kisses him so softly
And pulls him close to her
Thankful he's arrived
As he's trapped in her allure.

He greets with words unspoken
As she takes his hat and coat
And hangs them by the mantle
To where she seems to float.

He picks her up in arms
And rushes up the stair
Then lays her down so gently
As if she's light as air.

Their kisses touch more deeply
A passions take their pace
Two lovers out of time
Caught in forever's place.

It happens in an instant
What horror has been brought,
Hot flames now have engulfed them
And now in ashes they will rot.

Two figures spied translucent
Almost shining in the dark
Making love here last forever
As they together leave their mark.
