I have had a few highly unsuccessful SLDR's and i dont think it is a sensible thing for anyone to get into, unless at least one of the persons involved is both able and willing to move eventually. Both people should also meet eachother before seriously embarking on any such SLDR. Until that has happened, you should call yourself 'friends'.

I am currently in a highly succesful LDR(just a few hundred miles) though, so im not saying proper relationships cant happen when distance is involved. Im able to see my lady every few weeks.

Bro...they DO work! But, if it ain't the right woman...it wouldn't matter if she lived across the street.

Two weeks ago a girl I have known for a while stopped in for a visit from China...Where she works.

We got together and it is the real deal...always has been. She has flown back to China but is due back in 5 months and we are gonna settle in. Check out the "Holy Hell!" thread on this forum (Relationship advise) Then you will know what I am talking about.

If she is THE ONE....distance means nothing....if she is not THE ONE....convenience means nothing.

lol! You might well be jealous Pete, but we are still both living in different countries! So its not ideal. But we do have a goal to be together and that should hopefully happen next year.

My advice Pete, is to steer well clear of those pesky american/canadian chicks! At least keep things in the UK and you can possibly maintain a proper relationship. I think it is highly unlikely an accross-the-pond relationship would work out. The distance always becomes an issue in the end.

If you like American chicks so much though, maybe you should move over there. Because they LOVE us English guys! No matter what they might say.

See, now I'm torn: There are so many amazing American ladies on here that any guy would be fortunate to be involved with... it just seems like none of them have the patience to stick it out with a British guy ohwell

I found that these 'relationships' last on average about 3 months. But that was just my experience. I never actually met these women, and i think that was the biggest problem.

These sites are rubbish for UK'ers in terms of dating. I got lucky and found a Scottish girl, but if i happened to be single, i would not be using this site to meet anyone for anything more than friends. But then i never really did, and the times i got involved with people over there(the US), it just kinda happened.

You're probably right....if I remember correctly, you were also wearing a t-shirt with a saying on it, something to the effect of bragging about a rather large c*ck, or some other such rubbish....
