Or just stop being SO damn nice and learn the word NO.
Gees. I get one night a week that I can actually go out and have a good time with friends. That night is usually Saturday night. I have not made plans for awhile as I am usually spending it studying, but right now my term just ended and the new one does not start until Monday. So I decide to actually make plans. Had them all set up, bunch of use were going to go for dinner then to a show, then to a late night coffee house  . But NO ! What happens ? My phone rings. It is my boss, he really needs somebody to open the store tomorrow, and he wonders if I can do it. What do I say? "Sure John I will do it for you". So now instead of a night out with friends, I will be in bed by 8pm

^5 for you! Being a good co-worker and a dependable employee is rare. That you are willing to be a team player is probably why you are not going to be one of the people who will be looking for a new job in this tough economy. That your boss waited for your term to end to ask you to be a team player shows he likes you and now it is turn about.
I do agree with not passing on the entire evening. Life is about compromises and you need to enjoy some of your plans. I would pass on the getting drunk part. Showing up and being miserable would probably take away from doing what you got to do. AGAIN ^5 for responsible and mature. (P.S. Keep it in mind when you are asking for a raise.) |

As much as I would LOVE to be able to compromise and still be able to go out tonight, it really is not doable. As I was going to be carpooling with a friend (I do not drive ). So it looks like you guys are stuck with me until 8pm.
