A long time ago I vowed to my GOD to be as honest as possible even if it hurts. And sometimes it has. On the flipside I keep my word and my word is golden. I keep my promises and I get respect from it. I've never written a bad check. And I've never written a check with my mouth that my ass couldn't cash. I feel honesty shouldn't be too much to be expected from others. But we all have freinds that we have to have patience and tolerance with them. We keep our expectations in check accordingly. But some people have been burned so bad that they are zero dishonesty tolerance anal retentive and make more out of something than there really is. The drama mammas. And we all know some of those insecure neurotic itchy trigger finger "snap" defensive "What do you mean by that's!!!" also. Honesty should be expected and respected.

Is that a deal breaker for you, ?

do you hold a grudge ?

question, what about those that have been married? at one time you promised to love, honor and cherish until death do you part? does this apply?

or are you referring to a simple promise, I promise to pick up the dry cleaning?

That's why Pagan weddings are more realistic... you say "as long as our love shall last" and not death do us part.....

Depends on what it's about.

"I promise to get you a chicken sandwich from McDonald's" and it turns out to be McNuggets -- ?? Meh.

Bigger things have bigger consequences. But I'm usually pretty forgiving. Nobody's perfect, except for what's-her-name at the grocery store.

I really have only held one grudge in my life, and that was toward my ex-mother-in-law. And even that has diminished to the point where it's little more than a grudgette.

First Manglish now grudgette.....dude, I think I love you!!!

OP: Some of my friends don't get it when I give them a time out for blowing off their promises to me. If you say your gonna do something, either do it or let me know AHEAD of time you can't. Don't call me 3 days later with an excuse and expect me to be ok with it. It takes a miracle for me to clear my schedule to plan something and if you blow me off I'm likely to consider you not a very good friend. It's called respect. I think some other posters are so right in that it's something about how your raised. Following through with your word says a lot about you.
