Is a sep-son or step daughter STILL your step-son or step-daughter after you and their mother split up??? What's ya'lls opinion on this?????

That really depends on your relationship.

|
|
For me, it would depend on the length of time I was in their life, what our relationship was like, and what kind of relationship they wanted after the split.

That's very good....I've been in my step-son's life and the only father figure he's known since he was 4 or so....now he's 18 and a half....and he doesn't LIKE me very much cause I try to make him "do the right things". But he keeps coming around like he lives with me still cause he says his mother is nutty as a fruitcake!!! |

Sounds like a son to me. |

It's a little ironic that he ignored me for the most part before....now he comes around ALL the time!!! Stays for days at a time!!! |

Well deserved sir, and you're welcome.

This is simple....
Do you love the child? It hurt so bad to have the love of a child stripped from me that I went 10 years solo. No it wasn't my biological child but, it hurt none the less. Doesn't matter whose kid you are talking about...you love that child or you dont. |
|
|
|
If you love him, the "step" part didn't matter in the first place...

Preach on Girl!
Dude, seriously....if you love someone for certain...the term "Step" would never have been thrown into the mix. You love a soul or you don't. Biological or step are only terms to distance yourself from the love. I sincerely hope you find the answers you seek. I hope the kid doesn't have to pay for it in anxiety while you decide... Do you love the child or not? |

after so long the child can become like your own,you don't need a kid to be blood to have a forever bond

You were there for their childhood. you raised them. That' gives them all the right to call you "Dad" and you to call them your child. My father and his ex wife split up (yeah obvious ha!) and I still visit her and as far as I am concerned she is my thrid mother. It's great realy.

Here is a way of looking at it...
My sister's first husband introduced me at a party as his sister-in-law. When I later asked him about that since he was no longer married to my sister, his response was..."I didn't divorce you. You are still my sister-in-law." Warmed my heart. He will always be as much of a brother to me as my own brother. He has been in my life since I was 8 years old. I say keep him as a step-son as an added bonus in the divorce. M |
