If you need the father's permission, then you're giving the father all the power.

I don't think the father should have a legal say because he's not the one who has to be pregnant for nine months and then give birth.

How are you giving the father all of the power...right now it is the woman who has all of the power. If you need his permission then both parents have a legal right to choose. If they do not agree, they stand before a judge and he chooses.

First of all, the woman is the one carrying the fetus and therefore has to take all of the responsibility. You cannot divide a decision between two people. In the case of a woman wanting an abortion, if the father says no, then she can't have an abortion. In this case, only the father has the freedom to choose, not the woman.

in many cases if you make it a legal battle... by the time it is decided it could be to late.. and what about the appeal process?? not to mention the fact that if the father decides to back out.. up and disapear (like my childrens father) then the mother is stuck with a child that she didnt want in the first place..

also.. it limits opertunities for the mother in many cases.. job promotions.. moving.. getting dates.. etc.. really puts a cramp on her lifestyle.. while the father who wants the child is free to live his life as he chooses for the 9 months that she is preg..

**not entirely my opinion.. but thought id throw some thoughts into this..***

I know all about this actually. I was an honors student at the Art Institute when I got pregnant. Her father begged me for her. Now he is out of site with no child support and I am on my own. Not saying I have a single regret, either, but I know what you are saying.

I know in my state the morning after pill is offered. There is also government reimbursement for all rape treatment. Including the rape kit, morning after pill and all std testing. It may not have been offered where you live though. Sorry to presume it was the same where you are.

It's different in every state. You cannot get the morning after pill everywhere in my state either.

Just look what Palin did to her city when she was Mayor. She made rape victims pay their for own rape kit.
