Things around here are tough too. I work for a cabinet manufacturer and we have already closed one plant and they are still laying off in the other two. They've even laid off one of the big guys. It is scary, especially as a single mom with 3 kids. We have cut way back on everything but even groceries are escalating in price. Spam ain't so cheap any more!!

Starting a business can be ok if you don't have to pay a lot for space or inventory. If you don't have a lot of capital a service business is a better way to go. Anything that provides services to seniors is going to be good I would think. Especially if you can make it so their daughters can continue to work. I have thought about starting an adult day care. There is a tremendous need for them with nurseing home so God aweful expensive.

I waitress and believe me, people are eating out a lot less. And if they do eat out, they tend to tip less. Sucks! frustrated

That is so wrong. Tipping less. If I can't afford to tip I don't go out. If I do go out I skip the dessert or drink and STILL tip.
