Here's a question I've been pondering.
If the public vote doesn't REALLY count in the choosing of the president, why do the spend billions of dollars to persuade us to vote? Imagine putting that money to the economy *gasps*.
Problem solved?grumble

I think the faux elections help perpetuate the illusion of democracy.

1.) It's in their best interests to make people believe that their opinions matter. Keeps them quiet and complacent. Remember, "representative democracy has been, is, and always will be the best form of government," so it's essential that the mindless cogs and drones feel they play a part in the process.

2.) The whole election thing serves as a wonderful distraction, occupying people's minds and making them forget about how badly they're being screwed by their own ostensible "leaders."

Lord Acton got it right.

It also gives the politicals a chance to fork over some cash to the media that helps enable the charade

The Councel on Foreign Relations OWNS most of the media. They are also the ones that choose which two candidates will compete with eachother. Ironically they are also responsible for most of our foreign policies. They have been put into power just four years after the Federal Reserve.... Hmmmm...

If anyone gets Bored go to www.cfr.org Takea look at the leadership and staff.

Hey, another thing to think about... Remember how 2.3 trillion dollars went missing from the Pentagon? The story was published on september 10, 2001... We sure could use that money now too... There have also been billions that went unaccounted for since the beginning of this "War on Terror". Don't ya all wish someone would spend this money wisely? (As Becca mentioned)flowerforyou
