Well..I'm not " formally " educated. But I am a pretty smart guy.

If a woman wants to base her interest in me on whether or not I have been to college, that's her choice.

Well, at least you can spell. I could correct your punctuation and capitalization, but it's close enough and what you typed is easily understood.

I do not understand how some people can care so little about how they type the thoughts they wish to share.

I was absolutely HORRIBLE in my English classes..lol

I am good enough with it to get my point across, and I don't use text message typing. I figure I am ahead of the curve at this point. bigsmile

* edit *

Capitalization mistakes are usually the result of typos that I don't catch. :-)

Punctuation...refer back to English classes....lmao

Formal education isn't nessasary. Willingness to listen, learn & share knowledge is.

Agreed! tongue2

And who the hell gave YOU a degree anyway?? shocked Joe's Barber College? whoa

(and it's not the rum and coke's, Lori. It's all the "safety meeting's" and repeated blows to his malformed head from a certain "blunt object" while he was still in the womb...) rofl

And in answer to the question, I think "formal" education is waaaay overrated. Many intelligent people who couldn't attend college for whatever reasons, but know how to READ, have educated themselves far beyond what one can get outta college. Smart people will GET educated, one way or another. If somebody is ignorant (drawing a distinct difference between "ignorant" and "stupid"), and grown, it's usually nobody's fault but their own...

To me it's not the formal schooling altho I do possess a college degree but about his intelligence. I have a hard time looking up to someone intellectually if I have to explain everything to them (to include the nightly news) correct their grammar & spelling, am unable to have challenging and stirring convos and be embarrassed when they open their mouths around my colleagues or friends.

If that happens? uhhhhh NO.

Agreed. In a written medium, your words are the only available means for making your point. Incomprehensibility is not an aid to clarification.

It's not about your past, it's about your present and future.

Like someone said on the previous page, what are you doing NOW to provide for your family.

I've met some highly intelligent men who were dumber than a box of rocks, I've also met some men with no education who taught me a thing or two about life.

It comes down to this.

1. Can you carry on an intelligent conversation AND switch gears so quickly to talk about the most ridiculous thing and turn on a dime doing it. (That impresses me)

2. Do you support yourself and your family (if you have one)

3. do you have great grandious dreams, or are you a doer and actually set them in motion, or do you ponder and pontificate things with no follow through?

4. Are you completely happy and have no desire to move ahead inlife or so set in your ways that you could live the way you do now, and live the rest of your life happy just as things are. I need someone who isn't afraid to take chances with their life.

So do you need a college education, I'd say NO, BUT you do need to want more than to flip burgers the rest of your life.
