Here is a great website on living with these types of illnesses:

http://butyoudontlooksick.com/

It not only covers ways of coping with the illness but also ways of dealing with reactions from other people.

To any and all who post with helpful suggestions, thank you! Whether it's fibro or other ailments that we suffer from, esp. as we get older, the more educated we become, the better we are. And, no one should be made to suffer in silence about anything if someone else can offer a suggestion that might help, even if it's simply emotional support.

Fibromyalgia

Is a word Doctors use when they can't really find anything Clinically wrong with you.....

It is not a disease, but rather a Condition....

"Definition
You hurt all over, and you frequently feel exhausted. Even after numerous tests, your doctor can't find anything specifically wrong with you. If this sounds familiar, you may have fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain in your muscles, ligaments and tendons, as well as fatigue and multiple tender points — places on your body where slight pressure causes pain. Fibromyalgia is more common in women than in men. Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

Although the intensity of your symptoms may vary, they'll probably never disappear completely. It may be reassuring to know, however, that fibromyalgia isn't progressive or life-threatening. Treatments and self-care steps can improve fibromyalgia symptoms and your general health."

I have been in the Healthcare Field for +30 years..

When people smoke, less oxygen gets to the muscles. This causes less healing to the muscles. Also, when muscles are tight and they are getting less oxygen, the muscles can't rid themselves of their cellular waste.

I know someone who claims to have it.

She takes Jujitsu, has taken belly dancing lessons, and just competed in the muddy buddy contest in Dallas last weekend.

Hhhhmmmmm

Massage therapy will help with that. I work on ppl all the time that have it in various levels of pain etc Its one of the few things that will help you relax & dull the aches & pains. Im quite glad i have the job that i have so i can help people feel better everyday. Anyway just a thought. My friends that have it get massages for it too& it helps.

This is so true and it's been like a year since I got one. Problem is that they are expensive. Not saying they're not worth it, but when you are on a budget it's a lot. I wish insurance would pay for them.

The few times I have, it was indeed one of the best things I could do. Massages help for alot of ailments. If I was informed correctly, massages release certain poisons that become contained in the muscles?

Yes, they do. Yoga can have similar benefits. The poses also release poisons.

I know. I work for a place that has memberships which make it easier to pay for ppl & is the best deal youll find. And if insurance companies and docs would educate themselves on how helpful this is to ppl i know coverage would happen. Somme of my clients do get covered but not nearly ennough.

Your body naturally builds up toxins in the muscle tissue which will cause tightness knots & pain etc. We work as much of that out in a session as we can & after tell you to drink alot of water to flush it out of your system. If you dont they can reabsorb into muscles & cause new problems. The better food you put into your body the less of this you will see.

It also helps to drink plenty of water. That will help get rid of the cellular wastes. And smoking decreases the supply of oxygen to the muscles. That causes the wastes to stay in the muscles.

How long has it been? I need to quit.

About 2 weeks I think. I started cutting down and seeing how long I could go without one. I would feel the craving come on and I'd tell myself if I could hold out for 30 minutes I could have one. Then the next time I'd go an hour. After a while the cravings started to pass. Then I made it 24 hours without one and so on. The hardest one to give up was the one with the morning cup of coffee.
