I like many was tuning in to the debate last night to see the Alaskan train wreck know as Sarah Palin... Imagine how disappointed i was when she didnt go up in a ball of flames.

Like watching a NASCAR race and not seeing a crash.

In all fairness i had been doing some research and watching debates that Palin had and she is not as dense as she has been recently so it was expected that she would calm down and do her homework for the debate... good job for not loosing, Sarah.

in case you forgot, here are some of Palins greatest hits
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrzXLYA_e6E

but WAY TO GO JOE! in traditional debates (ones with less hype) the best a VP can do is stick to the facts, dont make any mistakes (a big worry on biden), and stay on message by attacking the other side.
He did it masterfully and on the strength of that, there is a new ad out.

volley goes to Biden!

Well we all had such low expectations of Pallin the fact that she showed up at all is deemed as a victory. personaly I think she avoided about every quistion and tried to look cute winking at the camera and way to many "you Betcha's" I wish they would have asked her about "safe sex" and "abstinance" only sex education. I wonder if her fundamentalist position has changed since her fifteen year old got pregnant?

yeah she was very "folksy" as the news keeps saying. i personally find it annoying but a lot of people like it.... i dont know those people. you're right though she was pulling a lot of evasive maneuvers when she didnt have the knowledge to fight on the grounds of the actual question asked.

She did seem to relax her opinion on gay Marriage to the point it sounded like Obama's position... i would be curious how she feels about abstinence only as well... was her daughter in those classes? hmmmmm?

I wonder also. Her child had the advantage of a large functional family as well and she still got pregnant. The odds of a child of a single parent household getting pregnant are much greater. Yet I have a feeling if she is elected and if Mccain strokes out as predicted b4 his term is up, she will force this abstinance only non sence down the country's throat and cut funding to safe sex education and stack the supreme court with dark ages fundamentalist judges. We are doomed if she gets into office

no doubt! I am really worried about the judges thing. no one is talking about it. I guess they think it will divide the electorate even further. but its a big deal! McCain/Palin could essentially turn the Supreme court into a Conservative monopoly that spells bad news for the women of America

I found her "folksiness" extremely annoying, along with the fact that she kept trying to make herself out as the average American, just like youse and me. I don't want the AVERAGE American as VP. I'd prefer someone a bit smarter.

She's a nightmare as far as Roe v. Wade is concerned.

And I really would like to ask her how that "abstinence only" policy is working out!

The evidence is overwelming that it didnt work out all that well. Pretty much its the republican way, the war isnt working out yet we continue bleeding our rescourses there, the tax cuts for the rich didnt trickl down yet here we are. All accross the board it is failure yet we still have these republicans clinging to these failed policies.

haha Nice "Like watching a NASCAR race and not seeing a crash."

The winking annoyed me too. I don't want a tart in the executive branch I want an intelligent man or woman who thinks for them self. I don't what a chippy who chirps her daddy John McCain's party lines. Remember, the few times she has not followed his policy remember the McCain campaign has told us that's not what she meant.

I am with dae11x. I don't want the average American a heartbeat away from the presidency. Nor do I want a scripted barbie who seems incapable of real thought.

Oh and while we are talking about her here's one of the things that really stood out for me.

Her mention of the expanded (did she say) powers of the vice presidency? I know the word she used wasn't role. At any rate, if it is the intention of the McCain/Palin ticket to continue to expand the power of the executive branch (which is in line with the Rove/Cheney/Bush philosophy then we are potentially in real trouble.

Rove/Cheney/Bush approach of creating and maintaining an executive branch that is seemingly unanswerable to the courts or to congress, something that is clearly not intended by the founders, disturbs me. Remember it is Cheney who has, when it suits him, insisted that the office of vice president both is and is not part of the executive branch.

I'd like to hear more about what the McCain/Palin's theory of the role of the veep is and how they will apply that if in office. Of course we won't get those facts from the ticket. Heck, we can't even get a clear answer from the current president or veep.

It's not a case of expanded powers. It is a power grab that seeks to create and maintain an imperial presidency and it is dangerous to the union and to the future of the American people. I don't care what party is in the office.

She's so deluded and arrogant, she thinks she's qualified to re-define the constitution. Just because she's a hockey mom and knows Joe Six Pack down the street.

This is my thoughts on the debate.
I posted this in another thread also.

If anyone had actually noticed Palin didn't answer any questions, just memorized what she had been taught this week in those so called secret meetings.

She was reading off of cards, Biden was taking notes.
How could no one have noticed this.whoa

She called Biden, Olden...
I'm sure that was on purpose.
She also commented on Biden's deceased wife...
her quote., "I'm sure she's in heaven now, God Bless."
it was said with no emotion and full of sarcasm
(in very bad taste)

She never answered ANYTHING that was asked of her, just tapped danced her way around the issues, and every question thrown at her.

She didn't fool me one bit.noway
She's the biggest mistake, McCain has made since his bid for president.

As it's been said:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
~Abraham Lincoln

And that about sums it uptongue2

you guys are right.

she isn't screwed up enough to be VP.

She doesn't hold a candle to the majority of Congress.

I bet they would be screaming foul and bleeding from the ears if a House bill sent to the Senate fell to a tie.

We better not let her risk it.

We need more democrats to make sure that no pork for republicans ever gets into any budgeted item ever again.

I for one do not think we need to bribe republicans, just get rid of them.

That way, the democrats can blame the past and do as they please without any resistance.

That's the sure way to bankrupt the Federal Reserve Bank and their cronies, the usurpers of free lunch programs.

The audacity of them to charge interest and expect it to be paid in their own currency.
