Friendship's Reward
He sat there in his chair As darkness came to play. He felt his pain was churning And hope none had mind to pay. He smiled a smile as best he could. He thought they would never know, Then again he thought His adventure was alone. Days went by just like a blur And now his secret's out, Too many people forcing him To do just what they could without. They don't understand This man's new young friend. He disregards the doctor's job While his patient he defends. Sinking into twilight The weakened voice does call And thanks the friend for moment's peace Before eternal sleep will fall.
