the holidays for me this year are work, work, work and I do mean every holiday from Thanksgiving to New Years Eve. I guess in a way that is good because (like grey) from Thanksgiving to the first of the year I get so damned depressed. It was around that time that my son passed away. Last year it wasn't so bad because I did have someone in my life. This year, I'm not sure because there is no significant other....but we shall see how it fairs.

Yeah..I think my friend in Mississippi feels the same...

Don't think he'd even thing of volunteering.

It is a great thing though. Certain holiday days the movie theatres are so uncrowded....also good time to eat Chinese.

I like to cook a baby turkey just for me!!

Cheers and good thoughts holidays or any day!

Yeah after my mom lost my dad every holiday for her was a burden. Then my sister died unexpected that really was hard during these times. But I don't want my kids learning from that example so I push myself out of myself. Now it is 6 years since her death and life has changed things are different. My daugher and grand daughter are happy and that is what matters :)

we have thanksgiving in Nov. that's when they have Black Friday....the biggest shopping day of the year for Christmas. Although I'm not sure how great it will be this year with the economy being so slow. Heck, I started my shopping at flea markets and thrift stores this year. Call me cheap, call it whatever you want but when money is tight you do what you can do.

Hi all,
I can identify with the whole holiday thing. I find it helps to plan some thing to do rather than be alone. So many places to volunteer and some of the hotels actually put on fabulous buffets if you want to take a mini vacation. Church often has a lot of activities. I usually serve and ongoing sandwich and beverage bar for the choirs that sing all day Christmas Eve/Christmas. I was relieved when my girlfriend and her husband ask me and my Dad to go together cooking the Thanksgiving dinner. Keeps us both from eating left overs for days.
[Thanks i also get out of my norm to.
Help other's and hug folks with no words just my being there.is a presence the people say!Kool.

Hugs Kids :) probably because her brother is going to be there too. I was always lucky I had dinners in the afternoon and he had dinner at night and she would go to both. Boy life makes us tough some times. Last Christmas my x wanted me to come for christmas dinner and in the last year we had been talking more (me and my x) and you can see she didn't like it. I didn't go.

Is Halloween like a Holiday too? if it is make it go away. First Halloween without my granddaughter. Her and I went out around this neighborhood every year since she was 2. She just turned 10
