Dear God,
And I do not mean that in the exclamatory sense,
as my father does when things go awry.

Dear God,
I was told we had to write a letter to someone,
but that they could be dead, or even fictional.

Not that you’re dead.
Or fictional.
But you could be,
from what I’ve seen of the world.
