for an uncooperative cat, use the same type of "steel" gloves fsherman
use, when cleaning fish or messing with barbed fish (such as cat fish, lol) they are design to be puncture resistant, so even though it may hurt fromt he force, the cat is not likely to be able toactually break your skin. And yes by all means if at all possible get him cleaned up. Also call your local human er. They may know of a vet closer. And finally DO NOT LET YOUR DAUGHTER SEE THE CAT OR EVEN KNOW ANYTHING HAPPENED. If worst happens and the cat has to be put down, tell her afterward. you do NOT want your daughter (or son) to see their pet in this manner. |

I would go for the spray bottle of H2O2 and if you can get the cat to
sit still put some antibacterial ointment on the open wound. Geez, I am so glad my cat is an indoor cat, just for this very reason. |

GOOD NEWS!!!! he is okay! he has some staples and a drain. hes been home
for about an hour. he is major defense mode. i put him in a room by himself and in a few hours i have to try to give him pain meds orally. im a little scared he is going to attack me. when i opened the carrier to let him out he went after my hand. thankfully he didnt get me, he is quarentined for 6 months. the vet said it couldve been a raccoon or another cat. amazing what claws can do. i also have to clean his wound daily with peroxide, im going to have to get some gloves because he is going to attack me for sure. i am so glad hes still here. |

daniel my daughter is terrified that hes going to attack me. he growled
and screamed the whole way home from the vet, she started crying saying she was scared of him. as a matter of fact i can hear him in the room yelling and growling. its been an hour do you think hell calm down in a couple of hours? |
|
|
|
he should calm down after a while hun. Note I say should. he is
probably in pain, and he is also still scared ****less, as I am sure you or I would be in the same situation. At this time, only thing I can reccomend is leave him alone for the night in his room with food and water (unless vet says otherwise). Sometime tomorrow, after you get those gloves I told you about lol, go into the room with him (best while daughter is in school). Do not approach him immediately. Just sit off in a corner or by the door. talk to him adn reassure him. Try and let him come to you. Plan on this taking a while cause he will still be in alot of pain, in fact hell probably be in more pain adn he will be scared too. is his medicine a hard capsule, or a soft one you can open and sprinkle over his food? If it is soft, then go ahead and sprinkle it for now that way you can leave him alone physically until he comes to you. If it is hard, try and find a way to grind it up and then sprinkle it. mix it in with some people food that he likes. Not a whole lot, but enough to act as a treat. With kindness, compassion and letting him come to you, he should calm down in time. Best of luck. Keep us informed. |

if you don't know what to do- PLEASE bring the cat to the emergency vet
or call someone you know that may know what to do i.e. doctor, nurse, vet, vet tech, knowledgeable person about how to treat animals |

Vanessa try giving him his meds in some tuna fish...It might be more
appealing to him than regular cat food... You mentioned the meds are pre-measured ...are they shots or just the liquid? |
|
|
|
yes sadie they are premessured little seringes. it actually wasnt as
hard as i thought it was going to be. he calmed down after a few hours and let me pet him and i slipped it in his mouth real quick. i also got to give him his antibiotics. hes doing great. |
