now that I've been here a while I have seen that there are many people who would love to partake in these discussions and share their views but they are reluctant to participate because of three or four people who try to dominate and monopolize every discussion by preaching and proselytizing and drowning out every discussion with a flood of copied thoughts and opinions. There is no discussion here.

this is the worst political discussion forum I've seen of all the sites I've been on

Ironic - My Dad is on a stock chat line. He said that they have quit talking about stocks and now it's all about politics.

He read the posts in a thread I did about Palin.

He laughed and said that we were so nice on here and the stock chat line people were vicious.

Thanks, Templter for the bump.happy

I found this when I was searching for more information:

PMI plays an important role in the mortgage industry by protecting a lender against loss if a borrower defaults on a loan and by enabling borrowers with less cash to have greater access to homeownership. With this type of insurance, it is possible for you to buy a home with as little as a 3 percent to 5 percent down payment. This means that you can buy a home sooner without waiting years to accumulate a large down payment.

"It protects a lender against loss if a borrower defaults on a loan."

Where did it go wrong during this mess that we are having?

I was wondering the same..I know a lot of foreclosures here was because of %100 financing and over priced homes..So what has PMIs done and if not why haven't they?flowerforyou flowerforyou

Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are just a small part of the trouble.

Companies like AIG didn't fail because a small number of poor people who bought houses with the help of government programs couldn't keep up with their payments.

Companies who engaged in the trading of what were basically promises and speculation, bets that other business would succeed of or fail and other nifty financial schemes are the cause of this crisis.

This new move to blame the poor is classless and absolutely laughable. After all, the poor do control the legislator. The poor did start the Reaganomics that were the start of deregulation. The poor did buy costly homes they couldn't afford. The poor did make the business decisions that ran these companies into the ground.

It's a pathetic attempt to transfer blame to an easy scape goat.

I agree. What happened to the PMI that almost everyone has to purchase that has less than 20% equity?

That's my question...People had to pay for it..It seems that would have taken care of some of it..I know there's more to this than the bad home loans but it played a big part..
