I once was almost an hour late because I got lost, and the person had waited for me (he didn't have a cell phone). On the other hand, I once waited at a restaurant in the lobby for 20 minutes thinking the person hadn't shown up. I was ready to leave but then decided I'd eat there by myself. Turns out, he had been seated.
Don't you have a cell phone you can use to communicate with the person? Is it the same person who keeps standing you up? If it is, time to ditch that loser. I guess I'd say half an hour. If they don't call or show by then, bye-bye! |

half hour is reasonable.

if the date were at a restaurant, i'd probably just go ahead and eat without him after about 45 minutes or so. however, i doubt i'd just leave and waste my evening.
i can't stand when people are late, but i realize that it does happen, and that there are decent excuses. |

I have heard the best thing is to wait a maximum of 15 minutes and then take off. This doesn't mean you can't meet again, it just is showing that you are in control.

I have heard the best thing is to wait a maximum of 15 minutes and then take off. This doesn't mean you can't meet again, it just is showing that you are in control. It could also show a potential partner that you are pretty damned impatient. Half an hour sounds more reasonable. 15 minutes doesn't give any leeway for traffic or other such things that are beyond their control. |
