Most times, it's out of cynicism. People want you to be an all-knowing and serving robot which would then, in theory, create better life prospects.

I have seen you around and really enjoy your manners

and move on they don't have to like our view but they should

Jeez, Shadow, I wish I could answer that. I am so fed up with people trying to "domesticate" me and put me back in the same box they can't ever see outside of -- I have a friend who has been trying to make me into her idea of what a guy "should" be for almost 20 years now....it got old a long time ago....and she means well, but if I had to live a life like hers, I would end up killing myself.

Why can't people understand that their lives are not necessarily prototypical models for everyone else in the world?

..the part that gets to me is when the very things someone claims to find attractive about you (your personality, your style, etc..) are the very things that later on they start complaining about or want to change.. ..why does THAT happen???

The internet is just as full of overbearing people as real life, and it's much easier to run into those people on the internet because you're sitting at home or at your desk at work. In real life, if you want to meet a jerk, you have to leave the house, which involves putting on shoes, brushing teeth, finding the car keys, etc.

Try to keep in mind that discussion forums are for discussion, and to most people--unfortunately--"discussion" and "argument" are the same thing. Some people are deeply insecure and feel very threatened just by someone having a different opinion or outlook on life than they do. And where better to air those insecurities than the internet, where no one can see you or give you a punch in the mouth for being a jerk?

Discussion forums tend to get a lot like small neighborhood bars after awhile. There will be a clique of people who are too used to each others' company and they will sit around complaining about how boring it is until someone new walks in the door--and then they will all unite to run that person off.

That's just how people are. Call it "herd mentality" if you will.

I'm not really sure what you mean by "change" here, though. I have not really seen a lot of bullying on this forum to this point. There are places that are a lot worse.

Hey Lex, being who we are is what makes us stick out from others. No one can please everyone one and i wont even try and if i change or attempt to change who i am for anyone. Just somone was telling me i should do this or do that and i was like. Ok, say i do. What are you getting out of it, what is it actually doing for you. They said nothing, so i'm like, whats the point then so i just go about my way and thats that.
