This is a serious subject, much more info needed, whats the illness, age of the person, which does the illness respond to?

If you are talking cancer, they sometimes do radiation to shrink tumors before surgically removing them, other times they surgically remove them and then treat the patient with chemo and radiation.

As they said above, it depends on the illness.

When my Dad was diagnosed with prostrate cancer I told him heres whats going to happen, your primary care Dr. is going to send you to 3 specialists, one wants to burn it(radition) another wants to poison you (chemo) the other guy wants to cut(surgery).. When you get back, your primary care is going to say "Bill why don't we wait and see for awhile." Yep, thats what happened. Finally, he had the radioactive seeds implanted in his prostate. He is doing fine, as far as that goes.
