Well, today I am celebrating my one year anniversary of being a non-smoker!

      :banana:

I gotta tell you, the quitting smoking has got to be one of the biggest challenges I have overcome in my entire life! I started smoking when I was 17 and it's one bad habit that I wish I would have never picked up!

So...

Woot! Woot! for me!!biggrin biggrin

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Did you quit cold turkey? I've had so many people tell me that's the only way to do it! It's something I am about to begin...quitting I mean. I've quit smoking in my house so that cut it in half. If I could just quit smoking when I drive! That's the hardest time for me.

Chantix. It's a medication that helps you quit smoking. I swear I didn't think it was going to work for me, but it did. Plus I got my brother, his girlfriend, and my neighbor to take it, and they will be at their one year anniversary in about 4 more months.

Yes I know some people consider doing it with medication as taking the easy way out or cheating, but hey, I had to do what worked for me!

I used Zyban and have been smoke free for a little over 9 years. It does get easier. But congratulations on your first year and keep up the good work.

Congrats it does not matter which way you quit or if others feel that was cheating in the long run it gives the same results!!

I quit this January will be 6 years for me and I did it cold turkey and chewed on a lot of straws ate hard candy and stayed busy when I felt like I needed a cigarette. It is not easy but worth it if you have a goal.

I would once a month treat myself with part of the money I figured up that I had saved each month would buy something or do something as a treat for each month that I made it.

bigsmile So congrats for your accomplishment you have made great job!!bigsmile

Thanks so much. You know, one of the biggest things I did was when ever I got the urge for one, I would go outside and walk around our drive-way.(and I did a lot of walking, lol)It helped calm me down until the urge passed and helped me lose weight too, which we all know is one of the biggest worries when you quit smoking!

congrats to you.....I am on the road of being a non-smoker myself. It's only been 2 weeks today and did it cold turkey. there are days I wish for a smoke but I pop in a piece of cinnamon gum or chew on a coffee stirrer. after that I am fine.

Congrats again....woot woot

Yeah, it's a tough road (as with any addiction) but you'll get through it.
