well the thing about online is, if someone tells you in a nonjoking way this is who i am,well you kinda have to take their word for it.

No you dont, you dont need to trust anything anyone says.

There are A LOT of fake profiles on this site. LOADS! many of them are obvious too, though i still see many seasoned posters falling for it every time. I guess i am just a very suspicious person online and try not to be fooled.

Some of the fakes jump out at me, but i am sure there are also profiles amongst us that are harder to spot. Id bet money on there being an 'oldie' or two that is also fake. Just cos someone has been around forever doesnt mean anything if they have never proved they are real.

thats what i mean its hard to prove your real when your online or you are who you say u are, i agree with you im just saying , if your actually interested in them, until you meet them you kind of have to take their word for it.

OR buy a 10 dollar webcam and insist they do too. You could always buy them the webcam as well, i did this once.

OR request a specific picture - Panties on the head and fingers up the nose, or something.

It's hard to know, I think. Some of the people here who are not forthright may never have any intention of meeting another person from here in real life. They may have some other ulterior motive for behaving that way.

Some who turn out to be different may not do so intentionally. I've met a couple of people who didn't look quite like their pictures. Not drastically different, but I might not have recognized them without other clues. I wonder if they felt the same about mine. I don't think I look like me in some of mine, and a few I took myself!

I think it all depends how different they look. Everyone has the right to post pictures of themselves they think make them look their best. But if the picture happens to be 10 years old when the person weighed a few stone lighter, then thats a pretty big lie. I guess these people arent fakes as such, they are just very deceiving.

The fake people that have no intention of meeting anyone still play about with people minds and lives, even if things are kept purely on a friendship level.

'fake' is not so easily defined though. Most of what i have said refers to whether the pictures are of the person are true. I could, for example, be the person in my pictures but am lying about everything else i say. These people are possibly the most dangerous type of fake, and are the hardest to catch out.
