McCain says US not "in decline"
AFP Published: Wednesday September 17, 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Wednesday he rejected the view that the United States was in decline as the country faces economic turmoil. "I reject the doom and gloom that says our nation is in decline. America's best days are ahead of us," McCain said during a visit to a factory of US car manufacturer General Motors in Lake Orion in the Midwestern state of Michigan. "We're going to take care of the workers. They're the ones that deserve our help," said McCain a day after the US Federal Reserve rescued insurance giant AIG from bankruptcy. American workers are "the backbone and the foundation of our economy," he said. He also bashed his Democratic rival Barack Obama who he said had "exactly the wrong approach." McCain and Obama are fighting over who is best prepared to lead the country out of economic hard times after the government's huge bailout of American International Group and a spreading financial crisis on Wall Street. Obama has lashed out at McCain, saying the Republican senator had always advocated deregulating the insurance and finance sectors until his presidential campaign. |

well....
most liberals like to cite the rise in unemployment in this country as of late. Part of that is the auto workers plight, yes indeedy. ![]() Who, through no fault of their own, must endure the cuurent depression in housing while the greedy and avarice blinded fat cats and politicians scrampble for the spotlight. I am in construction and in california. I am barely keeping myself busy enough not to abandon my life long profession and yet, just over the tippy edge of being in that dreaded gap of those not being helped in one way or another by anything cognizant of who it is that actually are the face of the rise in unemployment. nobama is clueless. Mc Cain gets it. that's all there is to it. Democrats slap us craftsmen and tradesmen in the face when they blame Bush for the consequences of the Clinton nightmare of making houses abvailable to even the gainfully unemployed and recklessly entertaining delusions of grandeur priding himself as being of the "cut" of Roosevelt and a "chicken in every pot". We have been so busy keeping our jobs by working overtime for 10 years and so exhausted trying to fend of illegal immigrants in our industry that we haven't had time or inclination to lobby our cause. Thank you, John Mc Cain. I appreciate your understanding. ![]() |

How on earth can he reject the view that the U.S. is in decline as the country faces economic turmoil? Doesn't he read the newspapers? Go to the grocery store and see the increase in prices? The gas stations? Doesn't he see the houses not selling? Doesn't he know about the cost of utilities rising immensely? Guess he hasn't noticed that a bag of apples was $2.99 6 mths. ago and now they're $6.00. The high employment? The stock market? Is he hiding under a rock? Sheesh? He sure knows about jobs going overseas. ![]() |

Neither of them "get it" when it comes to this horrible economy. They both don't have to worry about buying food or gas because they are millionaires.
God knows i can barely afford a gallon of milk anymore, and its imposable to by a pound of meat to cook. Its cheaper to live on the Mcds dollar menu than it is to buy the products and cook it. ![]() |

And i always buy the generic brand too. So its not like i'm buying Frosted Flakes, (which is $7 here), i'm buying Frosted Flakes of Whole Wheat (which is $5). This is just me tho. I hate to see people with families depending on them.

Nevermind half of whats available these days, the meat-steroids feed to the cows, plus GMO. Milk? Hormones... neat, because my 1 1/2 year old niece needs to have boobs by 5. Veggies? GMO and irradiated crap.
Where is the nutrition? McDonalds however, is worse than all that combined, most fast food is. |

McCain doesn't get it. That's clear if you read his statements prior to and then from Tuesday morning to Wednesday night.
He said it himself not so long ago when he admitted to not understanding the economy like he should. Then, obviously uninformed of the days events he was hammer the line about the fundamentals of the economy being strong to vague and evasive...finally he took somewhat of a stand. Form a commission! The issue of immigrants taking jobs from citizens is complex. I can see why it is very important to Wouldee who says he is in construction and lives in CA. Wouldee posts: "Mc Cain gets it. that's all there is to it. Does McCain really get it? Which of his policies regarding immigration are his real policies? Just a small question. Making housing available? When houses are built aren't tradesman involved? I guess those houses were all built by liberal tradesmen? I am pretty sure ownership is a good thing. People who own their own homes and businesses have a vested interest in maintaining and contributing to their community. I am not saying give every random lazy ass their own home but I do think there is real value in ownership. |

I buy what I can find that at least has the basic appearance of safe, then I cook the ever loving crap out of it. LOL!
I get my veggies from a farmers market, where I can shake hands with the man/woman who grew it, ask about their seeds, is it heirloom or is it from Monsanto. Meat is a harder thing to come by, but I never, NEVER eat anything but well done anymore, as it can't be trusted. I also think I'm gonna get one of those Jack LeLane juicers. I only eat fast food if I haven't eaten all day and have no other options and then sometimes I'll just skip it anyway. There are some ways around it, and it's not all ridiculous in price. |
