I live in a very secluded rural area and people often dump there unwanted pets here. I have always put scraps out for these dogs because I would see them starving. Recently a new pack of stray dogs have found there way here. Right away these dogs started causing trouble. Nothing in my yard or on my deck or front porch are safe. I cannot take a pair of shoes off on my front porch and come in for a few minutes because when I come back out they will be gone. I have lost 2 pairs of brand new shoes because these dogs have carried them away never to be seen again. Recently I got out my Fall outside decor and they ripped my pumpkins up all over the yard. I cannot leave my outdoor furniture cushions on the furniture because they carry them away or rip them to shreds. I dread every garbage day because I know that I will have a mess to clean up. Even with the lid on the trash can they will knock it over and scatter trash all over my yard and drive before the trash man can get here.
I have called the local pound and humane society and they all say they will send someone to pick them up and they never do. I have called several times and they still have not picked the dogs up. Last night I heard a commotion so I looked out and a pack of dogs were actually chasing down a large deer through my front yard. These dogs are not friendly and growl if approached. I do not know what I can do. I do not want to hurt these dogs but I dont know what else to do. I thought I may be able to catch them and take them to the animal shelter myself but as I said they are not friendly and I am afraid of them.
I love animals and would never hurt them. I stopped feeding them a couple of weeks ago in hopes that they would move on but they have not.

Any suggestions?

If they are causing that much trouble and they are dangerous then you need to call the police.

Put some set mouse traps in the shoes. It won't hurt the dogs but it will scare them away.

You might try your local police dept. Maybe they can help you get someone out there. I would not try to approuch these dogs. Hard to say what kinds of disease they may be carring.

I didn't think to call the police. Duh..lol.

I thought the humane society was supposed to handle these types of things but they don't seem to care.

It's not the humane society and the police will tell you to call local animal control.

These are wild dogs. Do not approach them.
They can be dangerouse. Please call the police.
Tell them you have repeatedly called the Humane
Society and nothing has been done. These dogs
are no doubt starving, and that makes them even
more dangerouse.

Dam people for abandoning these dogs. Its a shame.
You may have to prepare yourself- the police may shoot them. This is such a sad senario.

Apparently the sherrifs office here does not have an animal control department. I was referred to the local animal shelter.

did you tell them that you have been in contact with them repeteadly and they have made no effort..
be sure to let the poliece department know how dangerous they are.

in many rural areas (like mine) the poliece are aucutualy in charge of these matters, and if they dont take action they will be liable if anything goes wrong..

I am going to go down to the Animal Shelter/Pound tommorow and talk to them. If they still don't do anything I will go into the police department.

Thanks everyone.

just shoot them a couple of times with a pellet or paintball gun, they'll stay away and it wont kill them.you'd figure that the police would do something since the dogs are considered a threat to public safety and would be held responsible if anyone gets bitten or attacked for their failure to do anything

They came because u fed them, now they think of it as a feeding ground..police or have someone "take" care of them, and dont let the police give u the run around, demand a solution because they are required to protect u from any danger animal or no
