Topic: Ads in the News... | |
---|---|
OK, I have just about had it with the ads in online news. I read two
local papers but mostly read world news on the internet these days. I have pop-up protection turned on so am not supposed to get pop-ups. I still get those windows with "pop-up" ads though and in the front of ANY video and there are multiple ads on most news sites. It is starting to irritate the SNOT out of me. Does it bug you too? |

I remember, back in the 70's when cable came to KS. There were no
commmercials on any cable station then. NONE. I watched more as there was a lot more educational stuff on too, not the crap of today. HBO was even commercial free. Movies and shorts only. Some of the shorts were highly entertaining in and of themselves. |

I hate popup ads especially the ones that run on my free website, but I
guess at least they have to make money someway to give me free space. Commercials on TV are another story unfortunately many times the commercials are more intelligent and/or entertaining than network programming. |

too true. But I have to agree with verbatim. I pay for my dsl line so
that I can have nonstop internet, and I still get ads. One keeps popping up about every five minutes, and it is driving me loco insane. So do not feel left out bud, your'e not in this alone. |

I hear ya, your post on Tiger Woods. I was confused didnt realize 73
and the 71 were just the scores from the last day. So I went to check it out and two pop ups come up, which suprised the hell out of me considering the site was usa todays. When Im on my laptop though I dont have this problem. Lucky me I have Vista... lmao When I first got it and went online not only did I get no pop ups I mostly also got nothing. Had to turn my body guard off (Account User Control), would ask me twice each time I wanted to do something then after saying yes each time would get a message Windows has blocked blah blah blah... dunno where I was going with that, maybe its better to have a few pop ups then absolutly nothing at all lol |

LOL
well with the popularity the internet has gained just in the past decade it's no wonder advertisers are turning to internet advertising. All websites cost money to operate and maintain, therefore most are going to require some sort of income generation to help foot the bill for it. You want convenience, you got it but at a price. I don't think a few pop ups now and then are too much but some websites go overboard. I believe that most people would look at ads embedded within a site over pop up ads. I could be wrong. |
