I love capitalism but it seems that everyone is out to screw people out of their money these days. I mean gas is down to $106.00 a barrel and the cost at the pump is still around $3.50 a gallon? Seems out of wack to me. What do you think???

Greed... not as likely as laziness. A lot of people want lot's of money, but don't want to work hard for it. It's that attitude that inspires people to sue people for no good reason.

I feel you my fellow little pessimists. No one seems to talk about greed though.

I agree so much,,,the stores say they have to raise the prices because of the gas cost,,,it has lowered some, but the prices in the stores do not lower. The Oil Companies are making Billions in pure profit off the Americans,,this is so disgusting.

"They say"... when oil was at $100 a barrel, they sold it for $3.50 a gallon. When it went up to $150 a barrel, "they" could not charge us much more than the $4.75 they got. So we are still screwed.

These days?

I think this has been a problem throughout all of mankinds history. You just aren't doing enough of the screwing, yourself.

Remember that lemonade stand you had way back when, and you sold flavored sugar and water for .05cents a cup, but never reimbursed ma & pops on the water bill? Or paid taxes on your profit to Uncle Sam?

Although you'll probably deny it. I think we're bred this way.

So start screwing more people yourself. You'll feel much happier, just like when you had that lemonade stand.

I think that when oil goes up gas futures do immediately. Its when they go down and there is a lag that the local owened gas distributors get their share of the boom

*hey nicolo!!!*

From my understanding, oil futures are just that, reserves purchased in advance. The oil being pumped into your car now was bought at some point many months ago. Each batch of oil is marked for the price at the time it was purchased, to ensure every barrel is profitable. That said, the oil prices of now, as they are purchased will reflect winter gas prices. So figure by Dec/Jan, we might see gas back to about $2.50-$2.80 /gallon
