I wonder…
Something like a lullaby Peaceful then sour Pure and painful Distorted, this life Eyes of a child, oh to have them Dawn of the innocent Waking to find something real Never clouded by reason Or circumstance Love as it is, hate as it comes Beauty in life Sadness in death Purity in all Till someone, something destroys Steals the shimmers of rainbows Shakes the butterfly dust Steps on the green growing grass Pulls the petals from the flowers Turns sunshine into night Dries the flowing rivers and streams Rips the tree from its roots Killing that one last drop of innocence Forcing loss of the child Straight into adolescence I wonder... will our eyes ever see Even one little glimmer Of our childlike state Even just one more time Before we die And make peace with the earth? ©ATU 2004 |

That is so beautiful and could be applied in so many ways Our eyes of innocence don't die, they simply get covered with the mud of life. Anyone besides me looking for the sprinkler?

I agree!
Thanks you guys, glad you enjoyed it. I don't post my poetry for praise, just hopefully to inspire... if nothing else, just to bring a smile or something... so comments are always nice to let me know I did what I came to do! |
