I have used this method to get a better idea of with whom I am communicating. The caveat is to make sure you look at a whole thread to see if the person was kidding or if it was seriously part of their nature. Hey there sweets.....I'm just running into all sorts of old friends on this forum...... Gee this is a good one for us to consider about someone we both had in common.....huh??????? |

Let's say you are interested in someone that you are starting to email on this site and everything is going pretty good, Then you notice a posting they put on the forum that may be crude or stupid or downright sick or perverted. Would that affect your oppinion of them at all? Maybe they posted the topics as jokes or just off the wall subjects to stir up the boring topics that were posted earlier or who knows, maybe one of their friends threw in some off the wall posts to the dismay of the actual account holder. Do you just go by who you are getting to know from the emails only or do you judge them on their past posts and drop the communication and move on thinking they are lowlife trash? Also is there a way someone can delete or edit their past posts? Or are you stuck with it all for all to see for eternity. Hopefully not, cause I'm rather blunt...but my forum antics display me to a T. Meh what do I care anyway. You can edit all posts you make on the forum by hitting the edit button that is in the lower right of the post...and delete away all the perverted downright lowlife things you said.

first off.. no you cannot delete your past posts unless you do it soon enough.. and edit them out.. if its something desperate you could contact admin and try that way.. but dont hold your breath on that one. second.. why cant you do both.. get to know the person thru emails.. but also keep in mind the posts.. or try a crazy idea... ASK them about the post that they did!!!! some crazy form of communication or something.. i seem to have heard about it once.. lol I totally agreet with what Izzie said. |

If someone has a problem with your posts, then yeah, it's not a likely match. I filter out right-wing nut jobs with my posts.

Maybe, especially if you are currently lying and not being yourself with your potential match, OR if you wasn't showing your true colours in previous forums topics.

Do you just go by who you are getting to know from the emails only or do you judge them on their past posts and drop the communication and move on thinking they are lowlife trash? i think that if you read a person's posts, not one post, but many of them, over time, you can figure out what sort of a person they are. i wouldn't base my perception of them on the one post that might have offended me. most of my favourite people have a really sick and twisted humour that someone else might not be able to understand at first glance. Also is there a way someone can delete or edit their past posts? Or are you stuck with it all for all to see for eternity. leave your post(s) be, otherwise we might lose our edit button rights lol (inside joke) |
