My daughter will soon be 13 (end of april). I'd like to get her
something special, something thoughtful. We dont see each other much -
maybe 1ce every two weeks as she lives about 70 miles from here.

She's a great kid, wonderful, does very well in school, and is a really
good sport. She's been through alot of grief (my poor choice of a wife
was very cruel to her - so the wife has been disposed of), yet my
daughter always maintained her composure and grace. Far better than me.

So I'm looking for suggestions on something that says "what a great kid
you are, i'm proud of you, you're becoming quite a young lady" - that
kind of thing. [I do tell her these things]

One christmas one year when I was like 14 I got a daughters pride ring.
Seeing that your not with her mom and if you didnt want to maybe she has
a grandma she is really close to? Or a grandpa on your side??? Or if you
are re-maried one of you her and her step mom? mine was of my mom's my
step dad's and mine. when my mom and ex step dad divourced I got his
stone removed and replaced it with my mom's mom. I still have it, i look
at it when ever i am down makes me know that i am loved ... Hope that
helps you a lil bit Mike. But I am sure you are a wonderful dad and
anything you get her she will be thrilled!!!!

Mike my dad never really was into the gift giving thing but when he did
give something it was something I will always treasure because it
invoked a memory and became very special. So I don't think you will go
wrong with whatever you choose because it comes from you with love and
she will alway treasure it.

My daughter is about to turn 14 and it’s a 2 household situation. For
her birthday’s I have a tendency to make a day of it with her. We go
mini golfing, wonder the mall, eat ice cream at Cold stone (specialty
ice cream shop), just spending the day to connect. I will get her
something like a pair of earrings but nothing really big.
On the other side, her mom bought her an ipod and acrylic nails. Not
saying one way is better than the other, but I do wonder if not having
something bigger in had feels odd to her in this material world.

Why not take your daughter out for a 'date'. Make her feel like a
princess for the day. Take her out to eat, a movie, bring her flowers.
Never to late to show your 'little girl' what is like to be treated like
a young lady. She will treasure the memory always.

Good luck flowerforyou flowerforyou

if you want to get her something personal you might think about a father
daughter ring. i know my sister got one on Christmas and she cried.

like some have said a special ring or necklace and make a day of it with
going out to eat movie make her feel like the special girl she really is
wish my dad had taken the time just once to have done something like
that would have been a great memory. Sure you will do great no matter
what you chose to do as long as you spend time with her.bigsmile
