Why, when the internet has made it so that no matter what you're looking for, it can be found, ie..affairs, alternative life styles,just sex.... will someone deceive another person who is sincere for weeks, months or even a year or more? What is the point? And this question is not to start gender bashing because both genders do it. I just got off the phone with a friend who met someone in a chat room...for 6 months this person has been deceived. Why choose those who are honest and sincere to play such hurtful games?

Makes you wonder.

Unfortunately they have nothing better to do.

It's hard enough trying to find someone by just being yourself. I couldn't imagine someone being anything other with all the lies/stories they'd have to keep up with and which one's they've told to whom. But it will and does eventually catch up to them.

To get some free sex..usually it is the man doing it to the women, and/or free dinners, vacations, etc then usually it is the woman doing it to the man,,or sometimes people are just plain screwy, they think they know what they want, but don't but in the mean time use up others doing it..

Because there are people out there that can say what you want to hear. They can also make impressions that you will fall for. People tend to make others think more highly of them; than for truly what that person is.
It is like baiting a hook for fishing in a pond full of fish. One fish will fall for a taste and eventually end up in a bad situation.
I make no claim for others. I am just me and I am happy being myself. I Just don't enjoy being alone in life. But I will wait until I find the right person to enjoy life with again.
As a friend once told me; "It is the people who try to make the biggest impressions upon others, or please feel sorry for me; that you have really got to watch out for." And this came from a woman.

Something similar happened to me recently on this very site. If it is not for financial game then there are no easy answers as to why someone would do it. Entertainment? Anger against an entire gender? Perhaps they are simply a pathological liar?

I doubt you will find the answer through this thread, nonetheless it is a worthwhile question.

Somehow I think it's a control thing. Can I manipulate someone and for how long? I think these people must be terribly insecure.

Some people simply "get off" on the game........seriously.

Others haven't completely accepted themself yet, so still present a lie to others.....to boost their ego in a sense.

It's all pointless and always comes around full circle..........but people are still........well, people even on the internet.

Liars, cheats, posers all exist in RL, and the internet is is no different.....just more people are capable of communicating with one another over the internet all at once vs RL which make the numbers of such undesirables seem larger.........

They choose the honest and sincere 1s cos its most likely gonna be that kinda person who will also give them the benefit of the doubt, trust them.

And yes, there ARE ppl who do that online (+ in life), in fact, 1 of them once explained to me that it was a "sport"

I guess they have no sense of self, dignity or security, and thrive off attn from others.
