Aren't profiles made to help people decide if someone is right for them? If someone doesn't read a profile or ignores a profile...how can they expect to find the right partner? Why waste someones time? Isn't this a form of deceit?

i get bored when i see a lot of writing.
pictures. lists of things they like to do...is what catches my eye

But, if you do not read the whole profile you might miss something important..like he may like to wear your underpants or sumthing...that would be weirdohwell

Keep our private conversations out of it.......grumble

However, sometimes you can tell the players by reading their profiles.

Came across one today, had his age, height, weight and how well endowed he is. His profile said his intrests were foreplay, kissing, cuddling just shows me he's not ready for a relationship, just for the first piece of tail he can get his hands on. Didn't even finish reading his profile, didn't bother going past the first 4 sentences.

I don't need to know all that right away. I'd rather read the profile, see if there are common interests and goals and then meet them and find out if there is a connection or not. If not, you may have made a good friend, if so then you might have found your soulmate.

In theory, yes. Unfortunately, most people's writing/reading skills are poor enough that very little, if anything, of the "real person" comes through at all. How much can you discern about someone from "I don't know what to write here" or "Anything you want to know, you'll have to ask"?

Absolutely. But some people find it easier to look at the pictures. Them there profile thingies, they done gots too many big werdz.

People don't even seem to bother reading the status above a profile. "I am a man looking for woman for FRIENDSHIP" - This is not some clever trick designed to make me appear more desirable lol and yet I recieve more advances from women since I took myself off the market than I ever did before. WTF??! frustrated

ADHD, it isn't just a problem amongst children............

Seriously, difference in personality. If someone can't take the time to read my profile, it is not usually a biggie..........but what urks me is when they don't bother to read, and their FIRST email mentions something that you made clear was unacceptable in ur profile............

Anyhoo, I figure that if someone really wanted to get to know you. For most people would take a few emails at the least. They would read your profile if there was "content" there.

I agree to the fact I do read the profile but I like the picture to see if there is an attraction
I want the total package for me...
that does not mean a perfect man just one perfect for melove smitten

You're right Nurse, best to read the profile AND view the pic. Sometimes you just aren't attracted to the person, but when you are one the fence the profile is the deciding factor, or you are attracted to the person and their profile just makes you feel uncomfortable enough to not have them as a mutual match.

Yeah, I understand, a little. Mine says "Looking for man for dating"...but "dating" seems to be code for "Send me pics of your member" or "Ask me to meet you at a hotel, PRONTO!"noway

I agree. Even if someone looks attractive...if their profile doesn't say much about their personality move along.

Been called "gullible" because I still hope that there are honest people around. If that makes me gullible...then I am.

it could be peoples' wanting instant gratification-

you get mary-ann whatchamacallit who sees a picture of moofooga on the site, and (without bothering to check for distances or age limits and stuff) just HAS to start site mailing or IMing him. it could be profile pic-based infatuation or just plain impatience, but SOMETHING is going on to make people skip reading the fine print.

relationships aren't about instant gratification as it is... so reading up on peoples' profiles shouldn't be, either.

that's on reason I don't IM
not looking for instant gratification
take time to send an email for goodness sake
is that too much to ask?????

I look at it this way if you don't have time to write an email, you sure don't have time for a relationship.
