im overhauling a older hp desktop and having no luck finding a ps to fit the case. hight and length are stock but half as wide. want to turn it into a pvr

the problem with dell and hp computers is that most of their parts are proprietary. that's right- their stuff is designed to ONLY work with their own stuff. you won't be able to buy off-the-shelf parts (even if they ARE superior) and install them in your system, as they simply won't fit.

however, there are STILL alternatives-

i believe www.pcpowerandcooling.com are now making power supplies that WILL fit within the formfactors set by two companies. you'd have to check though, as the designs are all different, even amongst similar models.

I found one on new egg once but ie crashed out and cant never refound it. i also have some a couple older tower cases but will need to do some cutting to mount new sheild, otherwise ps and rest will drop right in.
Any ideas for a reset switch? Going to mount one up so dont have to tottaly power down in case of crash or freeze up.
