spyware and adware - it's what's for dinner...

I get lots of pop up, too, but I hate to admit I'm pretty computer illiterate, so don't really know how to block them. I keep getting all sorts of porn stuff showing up in my email, too? Wonder how come? I don't open them, and just delete them, but hope that my sons never look at their mom's deleted emails, should I pass on to the next life, or they'd wonder if they're mom had a secret porn addiction.

spyware and adware - it's what's for dinner... think my nukes are working, the only prob so far is that circuit city thing thats just annoying, I was more concerned with the downloads of info to other sites, Zedo and other things as well, will see what happens today. but, Mingle, circuit city, I will go to best buy now just cause of the aggravation, see how well that worked would quit going to wal mart, but those cheesy b@stards have a monopoly on the business |

the only way to halfway combat the problem would be to get-
spybot search-and-destroy spyware blaster spyware terminator a-squared free (anti-malware proggie) ad-aware 2008 free edition - and run all the programs regularly. you'd also need to get mozilla firefox and get the "noscript" extension, as well as "adblock plus". and don't forget to get a good anti-virus and firewall program, too. it's the only way to make sure you're covered on your end. |

If you see any annoying ad on the site, please let Charles know. We hate annoying ads (i.e. pop-ups, etc.) as much as you do. We are testing some new ad networks, and we don't have full control over what ads they run, but if there is an annoying ad, we can tell them to stop running it. We just need to know which ads they are.
Also, we don't give out any contact information to any other websites, period. We don't sell your email address, and your contact information is kept completely confidential. So if you are receiving spam, etc., I can 100% guarantee it's not coming from us. Unfortunately, in order to pay for the costs of operating the site, we have to run ads if we want to keep the site free. But we want to make those ads as tolerable as possible, so if there is an ad that is crossing the line, let us know. |

Maybe I have a secret "hater" who signed me up for some, who knows. I don't consider myself a prude, but just the "subject" lines on them are disgusting. What to do, huh? |

Hate to say this, but nothing is free my friends, and that's fine- only the owners of this place should fully disclose all of what it does to your personal information to MAKE the site "free". you don't say you don't do something only to sneak it in anyway. this goes regardless of whether it's blatant info exchange with other companies or through data-mining spyware- it's dirty pool no matter what it is. |

Zedo.com is an ad network - most likely what happened is that Norton was reacting to an ad cookie that was placed by Zedo. A cookie is not something that can harm your computer. A lot of ad networks use cookies to keep track of who saw what ad, and it's used to make sure the same person doesn't see the same ad too many times. Advertisers want their ad buys to reach as many different people as possible.
I will talk to our ad partner to see if I can get any Zedo.com ads taken off the site. Thanks for letting us know. |

mike, you say ...."We don't sell your email address, and your contact information is kept completely confidential. "
Yet, your policy says you may...if you want to....i guess it is there ,just in case you "change your minds" 2.1. Discretion to Use Information: NEXT DATING MAY SELL OR TRANSFER INDIVIDUAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES FOR ANY LEGALLY PERMISSIBLE PURPOSE IN ITS SOLE DISCRETION. |

Nortons 2008 and ad adaware I think I miss Avast, was slow, but works |

This may have been said in here before....but the easiest way to get rid of the annoying pop ups is to switch from Internet Explorer to FireFox.
I have not seen even one pop up ad in the entire time I have been posting here. |
