Our Lives Altered

After a long night of anticipation,
You were born.
Born into a cruel world.
A world that shows no forgiveness.
You had no choice, just along for the ride.
A ride you shouldn't have to endure.

But you were here. In my arms.

- Beautiful - Delicate - Strong -
Felt your strength when you grabbed my finger.
Your fingers were so tiny.
Healthy as can be.

The happiest day of my life.

Life has a way of distorting our minds.
Your strength - weakening.
Your life diminishing as the seconds pass.

Doctors - we look to them for all the answers.
The answers to our ailments.

They give us hope.

All they did that day was make mistakes.
Mistakes they tried to cover up.

- A false hope -

You were born & died the same day.
Felt like an eternity, never ending.

The most despairing day of my life.

Our lives altered.

Forever
