A month has passed
Since your simple declaration Of I'm not marrying you Fell so easily from your lips Lips I kissed, with desire While words of forever Together, always, I promise Fell just as easily days before I wanted to tell you that I went on our honeymoon Alone, but at peace, truly You missed an eagle flying overhead Beautiful red rock mountains The bluest sky, the biggest Vistas of possibility and dreams Of what can be and will As I hiked higher toward the clouds Wonderous of all that Feels so close as I Reach out my hand And have it all I enjoyed my son's life Saw his happiness within How assured he was and Wished you lived your life With the ease he's achieved I have beautiful photos that Put a smile on my face And I did get my picture Taken in my dress And I must say they Turned out lovely And you would never Know, the woman smiling back Was recovering from some huge Rejection and loss of love Why...because I refuse To dwell in what ifs or why So I must thank you As I rejoice in the choice You made for me And something positive ALWAYS Comes from devastating loss It's how you look at things And from my view I know more, my heart still feels It beats, I'm alive and yes Happy to be me, you see Just thought you should know |
