I wish I could help, but I'm one of the clueless. The only thing I can say is the best course is plain, direct and harsh language. Don't be PC, don't be afraid to drop some vulgarities, and for god's sake do not try to "go easy on them." If they're rapped up in you, it's going to hurt either way, so do it like a band-aid and end it quick and painful.

I know I've missed more than a few sublte hints in my lifetime, but I've never missed a hard punch to the teeth. Sure, it might make you appear mean at the time, but in several months or years, whoever it is will realize that you did them a favor. No one wants to be the A-h0le, but sometimes it's the best course of action. If you can't be the jerkoff, then you just end up hurting yourself and the other party even worse at a later date.

People set boundaries for a reason. Whether it be for protection, simple disgust with the topic, etc....

These boundaries should be respected, even if you don't understand why they are in place. You shouldn't expect someone to change thier boundaries or think they will change thier mind about the issue just because it is "you"....
