sometimes. there ARE hints you can use to find out, of course- 1. shifty eyes- if the person's lying, he/she will make it a point to keep from looking you in the eyes. they'll just keep darting they gaze everywhere else BUT you, probably to keep from seeing the liar for what he/she really is. 2. stuttering and stammering- the liar will stutter and stammer and hem-and-haw when trying to talk to you about the lie. it'll either be because the liar is trying to get his story straight, or because the person is trying to keep his/her conscious in check. 3. profuse sweating- the liar will all of a sudden "start to feel real warm" causing sweat to occur. people who are telling the truth are normally cool-and-collected as they have nothing to hide, while liars have a LOT to hide and don't wanna get found out. sweaty palms can also be included as potential liar behavior. 4. shifting/fidgeting- the liar will start to be real "impatient" as he/she's got the lie on his/her mind. a GREAT example of what a liar will do can be seen in ex-President Bill Clinton's video taped deposition during the Monica Lewinsky-impeachment thing- he was calm and cool when talking about stuff NOT pertaining to his little lie, but when the topic got a "little too close for comfort" with regard to his lies, he starts to get rather avoidant, among other things. Ummm...let's see here..... Three of those four things are things that I sometimes do naturally ( with no lying involved ) because of my somewhat twitchy nature. liar.  LMAO!!! |
