If this is true; we should fire every elected official and all their cronies......
You are under the assumption that the District of Columbia is Not A Foreign Entity, and has our best interests at heart, and that they are just Inept. . . . This oil will not be harvested, they will give us little finds here and there, Nothing More. . . Status-quo is what we will get. I checked with U.S.G.S. and it's true - they found it using satellites. . . Subject: If this is accurate ... America can be Energy Independent!!! 1. Ever heard of the Bakken Formation? GOOGLE it or follow this link. It will blow your mind. http://www.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911 The U.S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oilmen knew was coming, but man was it big. It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota; western South Dakota; and extreme eastern Montana ... check THIS out: The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel, we' re looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion. 'When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea, says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature 's financial analyst. 'This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years,' reports The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.' And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada. For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end. Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago. However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels. And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL! That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for 41 years straight. 2. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from TWO YEARS AGO, people! U.S.Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World! Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006 Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil re serve in the world is more than 2 TRILLION barrels. On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. They reported this stunning news: We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates: -8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia -18-times as much oil a s Iraq -21-times as much oil as Kuwait -22-times as much oil as Iran -500-times as much oil as Yemen- and it's all right here in the Western United States . HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this!? Because the democrats, environmentalists and left wing republicans have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil. James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels. Untapped. That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post. Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price - even with this find? Think again! It's all about the competitive marketplace, - it has to. ---- Got your attention/ire up yet? Hope so! Now, while you' re thinking about it ... and hopefully P.O'd. . . do this: 3. Take 10 minutes and compose an e-mail; fax or good old-fashioned letter to all your friends and associates. Alert them to the fact that democrats and 'liberal' republicans have been, and will continue, to obstruct all plans to make America independent of foreign oil. The only solution is to vote all democrats and Marxist oriented republicans out of office. If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you want to complain about gas prices .. because by doing NOTHING, you've forfeited your right to complain. |

The USGS report says 3.65 Billion barrels recoverable from the Bakken formation @ 20,680,000 barrels per day=176 days of oil that's not a whole lot of oil. Not even 1/2 a years worth.

Yeah, just toss a little Ex-Lax at your "Bakken Formation" and loosen that baby up. This kind of nonsense is smoke to take our focus off of making America independent of oil, period.

But it is true, the USA has a ton of oil...the citizens are screaming to 'drill drill drill' or does not anyone listen to the news??? President Bush has been yapping from day one to become independent of mid east oil dependency...no one in the democrat party would cooperate................ ![]() LINDYY ![]() ![]() |

Taking a long-range view, I think domestic supply is the last source we should touch. There will come a day when many supplies are exhausted and I'd much rather those be other than our own. We're managing right now, but we have to accelerate the development of alternatives.

Not that I'm letting out anything about my past but: When a drug dealer has the best "stuff in town" he will sit on it until all other "resources" are depleted then bring out what everyone has been "jonesing" for.
Do you think that that is the plan? To save our sh*t till the rest of the world is empty, then we pull out our stuff and rule the streets............................ |

The number of wells drilling the North Dakota Bakken jumped from 300 in 2006 to 457 in 2007. Those same sources show oil production in the North Dakota Bakken increasing 229%, from 2.2 million barrels in 2006 to 7.4 million barrels in 2007.

Excitement reached fever pitch in April when the US Geological Survey released a new estimate that there were between three and 4.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil in the Bakken. That was a 25-fold increase on the agency's previous 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels.
The field was first discovered in the 1950s but as the oil was soaked into the rock in an extremely thin layer across a huge area traditional vertical driller operations were of little value. But oil companies recently developed the technology to drill down 10,000 ft and then out horizontally for the same distance in just a month. The shelf of shale is then flooded with a million gallons of water and sand to fracture the rock and free paths for the crude to flow for extraction. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/2619313/Oil-boom-is-changing-the-landscape-and-finances-of-North-Dakota.html |

MINNEAPOLIS - Republicans are putting John McCain's presidential prospects above their wish to drill for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
ADVERTISEMENT Members of the GOP platform committee voted Wednesday to stick with an energy plank that doesn't mention drilling in the refuge, saying it would only highlight an area where they differ with the Arizona senator. McCain opposes drilling in that protected land, and some committee members said they would rather bring him around on the issue once he's in the White House than widen their disagreement now. ![]() ![]() |
