Need some input here. Can you tell me some things that children
believe, not necessarity because they are true, but because they were
told by adults or others in authority?

In my experience, a child's religious beliefs are generally instilled by
the parents, with reinforcement from the church, etc....and this is
often never questioned until the child gets older, if then....

The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, that I'm a good cook...lol.

Children believe in the good of People, and that Mom can make everything
better with a kiss...

I never intentially lied to my son. Once he asked me "Mom there's not
really an Easter Bunnie who comes and hides the eggs, is there?" I
asked if he liked believing that there is one. He giggled and said "but
there's not really one?" I said, sometimes there are things we want to
believe even though we know they are not true and there are times we
don't know and REALLY want an answer. Do you really want an answer?
He said "yes". I said no, there's no Easter Bunnie, I hide the eggs,
that's how I know when you've found them all. The following Christmas
he asked "There's not really a Santa, is there? I just can't figure out
where you hide the gifts." I said, are you asking a question that
REALLY need an answer for. He said "no, I don't believe there's a
Santa". I said, in this house if you don't BELIEVE in Santa you don't
need to get any presants. He said, "Oh, I really do believe, just
testing you?" The we talked about the spirit of Santa
and what it really means. He's now 22 and still believes in Santa.
