I never said that I was a vegetarian or that I believed in any traditional, organized Christian “based” religions. I love meat, especially guy meat fresh from Florida. You said you we're a celtic christian. I lived in Orlando for 2 years does that qualify me. NO! I'm like the pizza guy-free delivery. Did you read my profile or just perv it? |

Alright i will question - >away< They say - "AWAY" has many meanings is this true and if you answer yes or no - how will i know which to beleive? You won't. You'll have to figure out what is true yourself. and what is truth my lady that depends. the truth about what? specifically about the word "away"? There is no absolute truth, there is only a common understanding of the meaning of the word between the people using it to communicate with each other at that particular moment in time. In general I think the truth is what you believe. Even something as concrete as people or things. Do they even truly exist or do we create them in our minds as we go along? I do not know. |

I’m not but have been studying it for some time and it’s REALLY fascinating. But I do have to warn you there can be some aggressive Christians that peruse these forums. Hopefully no problems will arise but you never know. Blessed Be. Did I do something wrong by posting this here? Like I said, I'm new and just getting the hang of all this. Nope, it is titled Religion Chat. It doesn’t state anywhere, what religion you have to be to post. As for the judgmental "Christians", slap them with "Judge not lest thee be Judged." Again, I will state that I’m a Christian, please don’t lump us all together. Most religions are peaceful and good. The problems are with the people who practice them. |

In the hopes of furthering conversation on this thread I thought it might be a good idea to post some of the Wiccan holidays. This is a list copy and pasted from a website. Of course I’m sure there are plenty more but some of these are the bigger, better known celebrations. Feel free to add, subtract, disagree or further elaborate on any ritual ceremonies that are attached with these special days/nights.
Samhain (Holloween) - October 31 Samhain is the Wiccan New Year, and is one of the four major holidays of Wicca. [Pronounced "Sow-hen or Sow-in"]. At this time, the God passes into the otherworld to be reborn to the Goddess at Yule. The division between the worlds is thin, and it is a time to remember one's ancestors and to reflect on the past year. In the past, it was at this time that animals were slaughtered for food during the winter and the tribal chief took part in the ritual as the King Stag. Yule (Winter Solstice) - circa December 20-23 Yule is a time of rebirth and renewal. At Yule, the Goddess gives birth to her son, the God who is symbolized by the sun. His birth brings hope and the promise of the coming summer. Yule is a remnant of older rituals which hurried the end of winter and the coming of spring. Imbolc (Brigid, Candlemas) - Feb. 2 Imbolc is one of the four major holidays of Wicca. Imbolc marks the growth of the God into a strong boy, as the days grow longer and the sun gets stronger. It also marks the recovery of the Goddess from giving birth to the God. It is a time of initiation, a beginning, as the seeds begin to wake from their winter sleep. Traditionally many initation rituals and self-dedication rituals are done at this time. Ostara (Eostar,The Spring Equinox) - circa March 20-23 The Spring Equinox marks the first day of spring. It is the time when the God grows to maturity. The night and day are equal, therefore it is a time of balance when our lives can be brought into harmony. It is a time of beginnings of action. Beltane (May Eve) - April 30 Beltane is one of the four major holidays of Wicca. Beltane is the emergence of the God into manhood. He falls in love with the Goddess, and their union results in the Goddess being with child. Beltane is a celebration of their coupling and the fertility of the Earth Goddess and all living things. Beltane marks the return of vitality and passion. Litha (Summer Solstice, Midsummer) - circa June 20-23 Midsummer falls on the longest day of the year. On this day the God begins his journey towards death as the days begin to get shorter. In the past, bonfires were leapt to encourage fertility, health, and love. Lammas (Lughnasadh) - August 1 Lammas is one of the four major holidays of Wicca. Lammas is the celebration of the successful growing season. The grain is ripe, but is just beginning to be harvested. The God loses strength as the days grow shorter. It is a time to address and overcome fears and anxiety. Mabon (Autumn Equinox) - circa September 20-23 Mabon is the celebration of a successful harvest. Once again, night and day are equal. It is a time to address the balance in our lives and to be thankful for our success. The God continues to fade with the sun, while the Goddess mourns his loss but rejoices in her pregnancy. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* There are also thirteen full moons in every year. These are referred to as Esbats, and are usually considered the best time to work magick. |

Thanks! That was a good idea. I celebrate all of these, but not with a ritual like most Wiccans. I see them more as celebratory times and acknowledge the turning of the wheel with fun activities.
As for the esbats, in my coven we don't have a full moon ritual that we do every month. We actually meet for the dark moon as a "starting over" point every month. Again, celebrating the beginning of the new lunar cycle. |

Participated in a Norse ritual today called a Blot in honor of Frey. I had never been to one before. It was very simple and very fun. Apparently he's the god of passion, among other things. So, I'm hopin' to get laid now.
