So could anyone help me understand the return policy...

I am doing okay, just confused about the return policy about my new cell phone. I got a new plan and a new cell phone last saturday. And I just dont care of the phone, it is complete different from any phone I have ever had. I was so hyped about getting it and now that I have had it for a week I dont like it. There is a 14day day cancellation plan/return policy...and it is confusing me.

Cancellation and Returns: You can cancel your Service without paying an Early Termination Fee if you cancel WITHIN 14 DAYS of activating a new line of Service. (“Return Period”). You remain responsible to pay for the Service and all charges, fees and taxes incurred through the date of cancellation.

To cancel during the Return Period, you must return to the store where you activated (or, if purchased online or by phone, follow the return instructions in the package), and return any Device you acquired at the time of activation. To receive a refund of the purchase price of your Device (less rebates received and shipping costs), you must return it (with original packaging and all contents) within the Return Period in undamaged condition and good working order to the place of purchase. You may be required to pay a restocking fee. If you do not comply with store policy, we may elect not to process your Service cancellation or you may be charged the suggested retail price of the Device, (which may be greater than the price you paid), plus any shipping and handling charges.

I dont understand this..."To receive a refund of the purchase price of your Device (less rebates received and shipping costs), you must return it (with original packaging and all contents) within the Return Period in undamaged condition and good working order to the place of purchase."

I want to return my sidekick and just get one of the new razors..but I already sent me rebate for my sidekick. So they are telling me I wont get my rebate for that? And that I wont get a refund of purchase price since I cut my box part to send it in to a rebate? And I will have to pay full price/shipping and handeling for the Razor annnnnd a restock fee?

Ugh...what a mess, so if you can please help me understand if you can.

That is just a legal term saying that you are screwed. See if they will exchange it for a one that you like.

First... one question... did you get it at a store, or through the internet or mail?

At the local store.

Then it would seem pretty much straight up... take it back to the store where you bought it at, tell them that you do not care for that style of phone, pick out the style of phone you want, and I am sure the salesperson can help you get it straightened out and explain everything about the rebate stuff.

It all depends who you are with? Me I am with sprint and I went threw the same thing. I did not like the cell cuz it could not get some web pages and I had 2 check my emails so I went back to the place and told them what was going on and he told me I had to pay a restoking fee I was like no ur phone is not workin. To make a long story short they just gave me a new phone and 50.00 on my bill.

What should happen is you should take all the stuff you have for your phone in and tell them you don't like the phone if its within the 14 days. If you've already gotten the rebate which I doubt you have its xorporate the deals with that and they should be able to decline it and you'll start over from picking the phone. That's how we do it where I work.

Thanks everyone. And no I didnt get the rebate yet. I was talking it over with my mom and said said ask them for an exchange, explain that I dont like the style of phone and everything else. Even though the phone I got is more then the phone I want now she said I should get some money back, or that money could be use for the restock fee or any other fee I might have to pay.

The other phone has a 50dollar rebate as well, they could just switch it out and let me get the one I already sent for. And just not give me a rebate paper for the other one.

When I got my phone about 10 years ago they stuck me with a nokia. couldn't stand that thing. so ever since then I have run motorola phones. my provider is switching to verizon now so I should have better options next time around.

It's funny you say that, because when I worked for Voicestream (now T-Mobile) in a call center as customer service, the Motorola phones were of poor quality and the Nokia phones were much better.

I currently use a Samsung that apparently needs flashed.

it locks up when I try to play games on it.

Yanno, phone agency piss me right off....and its ironic to me that u r bringing this up today...cos i just recieved a call from a company that tried to rip me off like that 3yrs ago!!

They called me and asked if i would be interested in a new mobile contract, i said i wasnt, but they said they would send me the phone anyway, and if i didnt like it, i could send it back.

So, the phone arrived, and it was a brick, so i called them and said i didnt want it. I was told like you, that i would have to pay a cancellation fee AND pay the postage to send it back! Well...i went off on 1, and i accused them of being rip off merchants, can u imagine how much money they make outta ppl doing this?!

Anyhoo, i refused to pay a cancellation fee, cos the phone had never been activated or used. they already had my card details, and had took the first months payment! While i was on the phone to this asshole who was tryin to get my money, he actually said to me "well u shouldnt be so stupid to give out ur details over the phone" i was horrified, and i told him wat i thought of his lack of professionalism.

I never did send the phone back and i later binned it after about a yr passed.

They called me yesterday again, saying they were gonna take action against, so i told them that was fine, as i have no prob telling the court i was ripped off!!

Dam phone agencies!! i hate them!!

My advice would be to go direct in a respectable cell company, and choose a phone that suits u, sub agencies r the 1s who rip ya off.
