Topic: Another 'Politically Correct' poll | |

Why do some insist on the removal of everything that has a historical significance just to be 'politically correct'?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/ Poll Question Should the motto "In God We Trust" be removed from U.S. currency? Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state. No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion. |

Yes it should be removed.
Check your history. The inclusion on that phrase is fairly modern. A response the the communist threat, the emphasis on the U.S. being a "godly" nation, happened at the start of the cold war. Earlier currency did not include that phrase. Our founders were keenly aware of the dangers of a religious state. It seems wrong to me having that phrase on our money for other reasons too. Don't you think (depending on your thinking or beliefs) God or the Gods and or Goddesses would be offended by their name or names being on money? After all don't most religions ask their believers to be rich in spirit putting aside all else in some form or other? Just wondering... |

Wasn't covered when I attended American schools. I just thought it may make an interesting point of discussion. Canadian money makes no mention of a deity. |

Well the COUNTER culture is surely the plight on our nation. I say we keep "In God We trust." well I guess it depends on which god you trust..who has more faith..the terrorist that is willing to blow himself to pieces for his god, or the sunday-buffet type (take what you want, leave the rest behind) christian that just likes to point fingers and judge everyone else?? |
