Whats your opinion on them trying to lower the drinking age to 18?

I heard it on the news a few minutes ago. I know where I stand on it, but where do you stand and why?

well the reason they want to is to stop binge drinking.

i am only 2 years older than 18 year olds. I happen to know first hand they are still going to binge drink. they are just going to have more opportunity to do it.

so many young teens do drinking games hell a lot of 20-mid 20 year olds do too. that leads to binge drinking

so how is lowering going to stop it?

just more cases for drunk driving.

and ive lost a loved one to drunk driving. my 18 month old baby cousin who had no chance at life.

If they're old enough to vote and old enough to fight for this country. They should be old enough to buy beer.

Why not? We clearly don't have enough drunk drivers on the road. We may as well add some that are less mature. Why stop at 18? Let's make it 16.

Other countries allow their teens to drink. The ol' US want to be guardians for their little futures. For goodness sakes! Let them drink. Now I don't have to worry about my babies sneaking in a drink (my babies aren't my babies...just grown up young adults.)

sounds to me like we may have a few people in high up positions taking bribes in order to help the beer manufacturers make a better profit so dont be surprised if they come back with well if our men and women are old enough to defend our country they should be able to drink..i'm just saying .....smokin

No they shouldn't.. too many drunk drivers on the road now.. here in Michigan they have changed the laws on teenagers getting their driver's license.. they have to go through stages now due to teens causing more car accidents.. so why change the drinking age?

And if they do lower it back down.. I'm sure it will just be another reason for our car insurance to go up.

yah for you but there had to be some kind of problem for them to change it to 21 in the first place.

i for one know that most of the accidents that happen where i live are teenagers why make more accidents. im so glad mothers against drunk driving is protesting.

People are gonna get killed because of drunk driving no matter WHAT the age. Heck- there are idiots in their FIFTIES who haven't figured out that gettin' plotzed and driving don't mix.

I look at it this way- we're sending kids barely out of high-school overseas to get blown up by some roadside bomb. The LEAST we could do is give him the ability to have a beer or twelve. If he (or she) is adult enough to strap on an M4, he (or she) should be adult enough to drink an alcoholic beverage.

Besides that, I'd be more worried about the college kids gettin' stupid, as they're more likely to do so.

DrunkDrivers is already a problem with/without a change so I dont think changing the age to 18 would make a differance

I say GO 4 IT
