My friend want a serious answer to this question. Why is it that in summer we want to be cold but in winter we want to be hot?

Simple - winter is colder than "the perfect temp" and summer is warmer than "the perfect temp." There is no natural median between them, so we need a furnace in the winter and A/C in the summer.

i never complain about being cold in the winter..............but maybe because its bloody hot in the summer and ball freezing cold in the winter............

Probably because in the summer we ARE hot and in the winter we ARE cold.

Because human beings generally have a certain temperature range that is considered "ideal". Granted this may vary a little from person to person and place to place because people tend to acclimate themselves to a given range of seasonal conditions. Since you are in Canada, you might be accustomed to temperatures that a far colder than what I am used to etc...However I’m in New England so not too terribly different.
